( -- November 17, 2013) Camarillo, CA -- Ferdinand M. Tesoro has filed this update on the Iloilo City / Panay Island relief efforts.

Everyone – you are receiving this update because of your generous contribution or for referring others to donate to a special medical relief and rebuilding mission that my wife and I will be spearheading to Iloilo and Panay Island, Philippines starting next week. Here are some of the details of our plans so far:

We will arrive in Iloilo City Airport in Panay Island late Sat 11/23 pm after about a 30-hour trip.

We will bring boxes of medical supplies and your contributions – thanks to you and the Filipino Nurses Association based in LA.

We have mobilized more than 30 volunteers on the ground there who are planning the logistics, identifying the locations where help is most needed, scheduling the distribution of relief goods, and finalizing the potential list of recipients of our help.

Activities we have already confirmed are the following:

o   Two local doctors (Dr. Glenn Alonsabe and Dr. Alan Sumile), three nurses, and a group of student nurse volunteers will be leading our medical relief mission in Estancia, a town about 3 hours by bus north of Iloilo City where almost all the homes were destroyed.

o   We have identified 3 schools/churches in Estancia, Sara and Concepcion towns which were badly damaged as recipients of financial seed money to be used for construction materials and supplies. We will be distributing our donations to the principal/head teacher/parish priest of these damaged structures.

o   We also have a list of familiesthat we will visit and deliver donations to during the relief mission. These families either lost their homes completely or lost loved ones during the super typhoon. The number of families who will be recipients of our help will be decided once we have confirmed the total funds we have available. So far with what we have raised, we anticipate helping at least 6 families but can be more if we are able to raise more.

As of today 11/16 – THANKS TO ALL OF YOU, total funds we have generated is $4,950. This is very significant amount and will go a long way in helping so many in need.

I anticipate receiving more during the next few days – will send you another update before leaving on 11/21. We will also share with you an accounting of the expenses and disbursements during the next few weeks.
